Christina Maza, RN, ICBLC
Christina was born and raised in a small town in Saskatchewan. She moved to Saskatoon and completed her bachelor of science in nursing at the University of Saskatchewan. She then started working at the Royal University Hospital in the NICU, then the maternity unit as a postpartum nurse where she worked for over 13 years. It was here that she developed her passion for maternal and newborn care, and helping with and supporting breastfeeding. She achieved International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) designation in 2011. Shortly after that, she started working for Healthy and Home, a home visiting program in Saskatoon for new moms and babies. This work included a lot of breastfeeding teaching and support. She continued to work there until she and her husband moved to Vancouver in 2022. Christina feels privileged to be working with the SPH Maternity Care Clinic. It is her mission to help families feel confident and empowered by providing education, encouragement, and support, with a specific focus on breastfeeding. She is also part of the SPH prenatal team, teaching prenatal classes. Christina and her husband live in Yaletown. They have four adult children, three boys and one girl. And they have a beloved small dog named Freddy.
